Dr. Whitney Henker grew up in Palmer Alaska and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Missouri, in Columbia in 1991. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1995.
She gained optometry experience in Bellingham, Washington prior to starting an Optometry Office in British Columbia, Canada with her husband and partner. They spent many years building the practice there, and raising three children. Dr. Henker and her husband, Dr. Don Henker, purchased Sandpoint Optometry from the retiring optometrist, Dr. Thomas Wiley in 2012.
Dr. Henker loves going to work every day, and looks forward to meeting new patients, and reacquainting with patients who have been returning to the office over the years. She feels she has been successful in her duties as an optometrist when she has offered each patient a thorough vision examination, and the best products and services in the world of eye care.
Dr. Whitney Henker is a member of the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, and Women in Business. She volunteers her time with the Ponderay Centennial Rotary Club, providing local students with scholarships, and supporting the Community Cancer Services. In her spare time, Dr. Henker enjoys all the many activities that this great area has to offer. She loves skiing with her family, and snow shoeing in the winter. She can be found hiking or mountain biking the local trails in the summer with family and friends.
Dr. Don Henker grew up in Alberta, Canada. He received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Marketing from the University of Alberta in 1986. In 1995, he graduated with Distinction from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon receiving a Doctor of Optometry (OD) Degree.
